World Burns Week 2024

World Burns Week 2024 at the University of Manchester, held on November 7th, brought together leading experts to tackle the global health challenge of burns.

The event featured insightful talks from Prof. Nusrat Husain on ethnic inequalities in burns care, Prof. Maria Panagioti shared the innovative NIHR-funded BURNS Rehabilitation: A multidisciplinary program for burns management, treatment, and prevention in low-income countries (NIHR203082), Dr. Munazza Obaid gave an insightful talk on the prevention and management of burns, and Ms. Sehrish Tofique presented key findings from the BURNS Qualitative work package, shedding light on the lived experiences of burn survivors. Participants also shared their lived experience of burn injury, bereavement and care.

This important event served as a vital opportunity to raise awareness, foster collaboration, and drive action for improved burn prevention and recovery worldwide. Together, we can make a difference!
