Trainings, conferences, workshops conducted in Pakistan for capability and capacity building
PILL team arranged Lunch and Learn session with the staff including Burn and Plastic Surgeons, Nurses and other staff of Burn Centre in Karachi and discussed ongoing project activities and recruitment of participants. The team distributed information material with staff, patients and families.
On January 6, 2025, Pakistan Institute of Living and Learning (PILL), in collaboration with the Institute of Applied Psychology at the University of the Punjab, hosted a training session for psychology trainees on ‘Substance Use History Taking and Motivational Interviewing Principles’. Dr. Mashal Khan, an Addiction Psychiatrist from Weill Cornell Medicine, led an engaging session on understanding addiction, motivational interviewing, and the stages of change.
Participants gained an understanding of effective communication strategies for discussing substance use and history taking. Additionally, the session covered a brief overview of effective interventions for managing substance use disorders, marking a significant advancement in enhancing our approach to addressing these challenges.
