Research only works if it reaches people. In this role, you will lead the communication, engagement and impact strategy for our global mental health work. You’ll make sure the findings get to families, communities, healthcare professionals, policymakers and the wider public in ways they can use. You will report to the Senior Management Team and sit at the centre of the foundation, linking research, community engagement, lived experience, implementation and policy.
What you’ll do
- Build and deliver a full Communication and Impact Strategy. It will cover research communication, public engagement, digital and social media, knowledge mobilisation, policy and advocacy, media relations, branding and impact storytelling
- Turn complex research into clear, strong messages for policymakers, media, funders, clinicians and international partners
- Record, measure and share impact through case studies, working with patients and survivors
- Set up a Global Policy Research Unit at MGF, and support our Community Engagement and Involvement (CEI) team so survivors’ and communities’ voices shape our work
- Support campaigns that bring together survivors, champions, media and policymakers
- Track and evaluate how far our communication and impact work reaches and how well it works
- Work closely with PILL, IHPILL, the University of Toronto, the Centre in Africa for Living and Learning, and our internal teams
What we’re looking for
- A PhD in Health, Public Relations, Public Health, Social Sciences or a related field
- 10–15 years’ experience in policy and impact roles, ideally in health, research or the public sector
- A proven ability to explain complex research to non-academic audiences, especially policymakers
- A strong track record of working with governments, media, funders, healthcare professionals and community groups
- Excellent written and spoken English and Urdu, with strong plain-language editing skills
- Experience working with lived experience groups, patients or community representatives
- Confidence with digital and social media platforms, content management systems and analytics tools
- Strong project management skills and international experience, including building global networks
Why join us?
- Work on NIHR and Wellcome Trust funded research that changes lives around the world
- Lead work that turns research evidence into real change
