Pakistan Gains Global Recognition in Mental and Public Health Research
Pakistan’s expanding role in global health research was highlighted at the “Global Health Research in Pakistan: From Local Action to Global Impact” event in Manchester. The event brought together top academics, clinicians, and diplomats to present groundbreaking research projects funded by the UK’s National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR). These initiatives not only enhance research capacity in Pakistan but also offer global solutions for mental health and non-communicable diseases.
Dr Nicola Commander from NIHR praised Pakistan’s growing contribution to global science, especially in mental health, maternal care, and addressing early deaths. The event showcased successful projects like YCMAP, a youth mental health programme, and stressed the importance of cross-continental collaboration and knowledge exchange. Experts emphasized the need to support scientific partnerships that deliver real-world solutions, highlighting Pakistan’s rising profile in global health leadership.
