Shadrack Mwankon
Clinical Research Assistant
Shadrack is an emerging scholar in clinical psychology with a strong academic background and a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the Federal University Oye-Ekiti, Nigeria. He is currently in the final stage of completing his MSc in Clinical Psychology at the University of Jos, Nigeria. As an early career researcher, he actively engages with the Manchester Global Foundation under Dr Dung Jidong’s numerous projects as a clinical researcher with specific interests in the cultural adaptation of psychological interventions for mental health disorders.
Throughout Shadrack’s academic journey, he has demonstrated a strong commitment to advancing his knowledge in the mental health field. For example, he has co-published over ten empirical papers in prestigious, peer-reviewed journals, contributing valuable insights into the intersection of culture and mental health. A significant part of his work includes the current project on the mental well-being of fathers in Nigeria. This research aims to shed light on the often-overlooked issue of paternal depression among men and to develop culturally adapted interventions that can support fathers, thereby potentially improving the mental health landscape in Nigeria.
Shadrack’s research career has been greatly enriched by the unwavering support of the Manchester Global Foundation (MGF)—and is deeply grateful for the opportunities MGF provides to Shadrack through various forms of funding, which has not only supported his academic growth but also enabled his participation in numerous conferences and workshops, both within Nigeria and internationally. This exposure has been crucial in expanding Shadrack’s professional network and improving his research skills. Additionally, MGF’s support has allowed him to contribute to several impactful research projects across Nigeria, further solidifying his role in advancing mental health research in Nigeria.
