Dr. Syed Ali Hussain

A Fulbright Scholar, Dr. Syed Ali Hussain’s qualifications include a master’s degree in health communication, and a Ph.D. in Media and Information Studies (2018) from Michigan State University (MSU) USA. Dr. Hussain’s Ph.D. research was funded by USAID, National Science Foundation, and Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. Hussain graduated with an outstanding doctoral student award. Dr. Hussain has worked as Assistant Professor at the Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication, Arizona State University, USA and College of Communication, University of Sharjah, UAE. Dr. Hussain has led and contributed to international research projects funded by organizations such as the NIHR, ACLS, and the Luce Foundation, focusing on health education, stigma reduction, and digital interventions. His research centers on public health communication, with a particular emphasis on emotional appeals, social media engagement, and behavior change strategies in low-resource settings published in book chapters and journals including Health Communication, Journal of Intercultural Communication Research, Communication Research Reports, BMC Public Health, and Journal of Medical & Internet Research, among others.
