Graduated from Dow Medical College in Karachi, Pakistan 1979. Postgraduate training in Psychiatry in UK. MRCPsych UK 1987. Faculty member Aga Khan University Hospital Karachi Pakistan 1987 to 1989. Assistant Professor and Head of the Department of Psychiatry Dow Medical College and Civil Hospital Karachi, Pakistan 1989 to 1995. Returned to UK 1995 and worked in Kent as Consultant Psychiatrist 1995 to 2000. Consultant Psychiatrist Southwest London and St Georges Mental Health NHS Trust after leaving Kent until I took my retirement in 2014.

I did locum work after retirement until I took up a substantive Consultant post in Adult Community psychiatry with Hertfordshire Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust from 2018. My strength has been clinical work and teaching and training in Pakistan and UK.

I have been a College Tutor and Training Programme Director in my NHS career until I took my retirement in 2014, but I remain actively involved in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and training to date in my current post.

I have been an MRCPsych Examiner for several years starting in the 90s followed by a break after my retirement. I have started examining again for the CASC Membership again since 2018.

As a MGF trustee, I am excited to utilise my experience and expertise to build capacity and capability in LMIC
