Alfredo R. Tinajero is a Human Development specialist living in Toronto, Canada. He holds a Master’s degree in Developmental Psychology (Illinois State University, USA) and a PhD in Early Human Development (University of Toronto, Canada). His main professional interests include population initiatives that enhance healthy life course trajectories in physical and mental health, learning, and behaviour. He is an advocate of interdisciplinary work, the importance of caregivers’ psychological well-being, and ecological approaches to understand protective / risk factors affecting development. Alfredo has worked as a consultant in several organizations including UNICEF, UNESCO, Inter-American Development Bank, Brookings Institution, Van Leer Foundation, Christian Children Fund-Canada, Founders’ Network, and the SickKids Centre for Community Mental Health (SKCCMH), Toronto, Canada. At SKCCMH, Alfredo conducted impact evaluation of clinical services on children and their families receiving psychological treatment and was involved in the Learning Through Play (LTP) program. LTP is a low-literacy parenting program designed to promote attachment security through building parents’ abilities to read and be sensitive to their child’s cues and capacities. Alfredo is also a professor of early human development at the Universidad Casa Grande, Guayaquil, Ecuador.
