Day 5: Bioethics Summer Program
Day 5 of the Bioethics Summer Program began with a great lecture on ethical policy-making by Lori Bruce from the Interdisciplinary Centre for Bioethics, Yale University. Participants had a rich discussion on how we can improve policymaking practices in Pakistan.
Following this, participants watched the award winning short film ‘Dia’, kindly consented by movie producer Dr Mina Husain. The movie fostered such thoughtful dialogue and ethical discussions on a critical issues, schizophrenia, a severe mental illness, and its cultural influence.
Prof Nusrat Husain, in his closing remarks, appreciated the organisers and all facilitators. He highlighted the importance of bioethics in Pakistan and globally. He further talked about increasing the reach of this program globally to benefit not only low and middle-income countries but also high-income countries. He thanked the organisers of the program including Pakistan Institute of Living and Learning, University of Manchester, Interdisciplinary Centre for Bioethics, Yale University, University College London, Shifa Tameer-e-Milat University and Manchester Global Foundation for making this program a great success.
