The Manchester Global Foundation (MGF) successfully hosted the 16th Annual Culture and International Mental Health Conference on Thursday, 17 September 2026, at the Battersea Arts Centre in London.

The conference brought together leading professionals, researchers, clinicians, academics and community practitioners from the UK and internationally to explore the relationship between culture, mental health and culturally responsive approaches to mental health and wellbeing.

The event featured an impressive panel of speakers, including Prof. Nasim Chaudhry, Prof. Dame Til Wykes, Dr. Tom Coffey OBE, Prof. Sir Sam Everington OBE, Prof. Nusrat Hussain, Prof. Vicky Bird, Dr. Tarela Ike, Prof. Swaran Singh, Dr. Farah Lunat, Prof. Imran Chaudhry and Brian Dickens MBE. Their diverse expertise brought together perspectives from psychiatry, psychology, public health, social care, community engagement, criminology and lived experience.

The conference provided an important platform for sharing knowledge, exchanging perspectives and strengthening dialogue around culturally informed mental health practice. It also reflected MGF’s continued commitment to connecting professionals and communities across disciplines and countries to advance understanding and improve mental health outcomes.
