Abdul-Hamid Hussein is a highly experienced Cognitive Behavioural Therapist (CBT) and Clinical Supervisor with over 15 years of practice across NHS and community mental health services in the UK. He specialises in the assessment and treatment of complex mental health conditions, including bipolar disorder, psychosis, depression, anxiety disorders, and trauma-related presentations, working across both primary and secondary care settings.

Abdul currently works within an Early Intervention in Psychosis service, where he delivers CBT for psychosis (CBTp), leads on complex case formulation, and provides clinical supervision to trainees and multidisciplinary staff. He has also held senior leadership roles, including leading a team of high-intensity CBT therapists, where he was responsible for service delivery, clinical governance, supervision, and improving recovery outcomes within IAPT services.

In addition to his clinical work, Abdul is the Director of Homebase Psychotherapy Limited, where he provides psychological therapy and supervision in private practice. He is deeply committed to developing high-quality therapists and regularly delivers clinical supervision, reflective practice groups, and specialist training for psychological practitioners.

Abdul has a strong academic and research background, holding a First-Class degree in Nursing and Psychology, a postgraduate diploma in CBT (Distinction), and a Master’s degree in Advanced Practice Interventions in Mental Health. He has further specialised training in CBT for psychosis and is currently working towards accreditation in EMDR. His research interests focus on improving global mental health, particularly within underserved communities.

He is also actively involved in teaching and professional development, serving as a visiting lecturer at the University of Liverpool and the University of Chester, where he delivers training on CBT, psychosis, and complex mental health presentations. Abdul previously served as Chairman of the Liverpool/Merseyside branch of the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP).
