Dr Shamsa Rizwan

A professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology and Head of Department at Fazaia Medical College, Pakistan, Shamsa Rizwan is an accomplished clinician, researcher and public health expert. Her diverse background includes international work as gender expert and contributing to impactful research projects. Her PhD from University of Liverpool UK focused on maternal psychosocial wellbeing and she studied epidemiology from London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, UK.
With a remarkable career spanning 30 years, Shamsa has dedicated her expertise to health systems and research with a specific focus on women’s health . She is a member of UK Research Institute, and is on the executive committee of South Asian Marce Association. She worked as gender and equity expert at Gavi as an independent reviewer. She is on the Research and Development committee of International Uro-gynaecological Association. She is currently PI on a research project for Integration of Digital Mental Health Intervention at Community Level in Pakistan funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research.
